How To Change Default File Format In Office For Mac
If you routinely share files with someone using an earlier version of Excel, set Excel to save your workbooks to a more convenient format. On the Excel menu, click Preferences. The default format for documents that you create for your business using the Mac’s native word processor application TextEdit is RTF, or Rich Text Format. There is a setting in Microsoft PowerPoint for windows that will affect the default file format that will be used when choosing Save As or opening a new, blank presentation. If it is 2007 click the Office button and find it in the save options. If it is 2010 then click the File menu and find the save settings. The only time I recommend saving to the old format is if you need to have the presentation opened in a version of PowerPoint older than PowerPoint 2000 for Windows or older than 2004 on the Mac. Free converters are available from Microsoft for the old versions of Office 2000 and later for Windows and 2004 on the Mac. Saving in old file formats ought to be a very rare thing to do, if ever. How do i set the default browser on my mac. It seems there is confusion about the directory location of saved templates. So, I have located my Word 2016 templates at: /Users//Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Templates/ This folder currently has Normal.dotm and Normal.dotx. Following official MS advice to save-as templates does not work for me. Other user advice to save in the above location returns this dialog: Word cannot give a document the same name as an open document. Type a different name for the document you want to save. (Normal.dotm) I click OK, and then this dialog: The document “Document1” could not be saved as “Normal.dotm”. Should I not be trying to save Word Macro-Enabled Template (.dotm)?
