Outlook For Mac Calendar Tracking Tool
Open another user's calendar. Why am I able to view the free/busy status of shared calendars of others within my company using Office 365, but not in Outlook for Mac? What is so unique about the permissions already granted in Office 365? Having to create a meeting, then go through the scheduling tool is a definite step backwards.
I am trying to setup sharing of calendars and then delegation of rights to external users. The environment is Office 365 hosting email. There are multiple domains and each one is its own Office 365 hosted email. For illustration purposes, we have domain 1.com, 2.com and 3.com. We have user *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and *** Email address is removed for privacy *** All three want to share their calendars with each other. Some are using the Mac version of Outlook and some PC.
I have done the following: 1. Verified that the external sharing is enabled in the admin section. Verified in the exchange admin section that the default is enabled to share. I created a single contact in outlook that I wanted to share the calendar with: For my sanity, I went to create a new email message and that user showed up in the contact email book.
How long for grand mac. That is issue number 1 that I am seeing and it may be part of the other issues that I am seeing. I go to Calendar, make sure the calendar I want to share is checked, then go to calendar permissions. I click on add to add a user. That contact is NOT showing up anywhere:( This of course drives me to try another method.
The infamous share calendar button on the ribbon. This will start it and then when I put in the email address, after some gyrations I get an error message: The error message is ' Problem: Your organization is not set up for secure sharing with this recipient.' Then it prompts me to publish the calendar, goes to OWA, creates a link to a ics file. The behavior is a little different on the Mac side. On the Mac side, if I go to calendar permissions, I do not have to have the recipient as a contact. When it goes to save it, before I can send it, I get this error message: I would prefer that on the PC and the Mac version that the users use Calendar permissions to create the shares and manage the rights of the recipients. What am I doing wrong?
Is there some setting in Exchange admin for permissions that I need to create? Is this an outlook issue? Thanks in advance. Hi DavidBergerson, Generally, to share calendar with external user, the external sharing need to be enabled by the administrator. I’d like to confirm whether the external sharing and settings in exchange admin center you have verified is:?
If so, since the sharing settings is enabled, please login Outlook Web App to see if you can share calendar with external users via on web side:. Besides, about Contacts entry not displayed when clicking Add button in permission tab, in my view, it is an expected behavior. On Outlook windows desktop client, you may need to initiate the external sharing invitation by Share Calendar button. If you can share calendar with external users on Web App, issue most likely related with PC client, check Outlook updates to see if issue can be fixed. Change another PC client to see if issue exists.
Thanks, Anna. Anna, thanks for the response but.. The very two first points I posted, stated I did exactly what you asked:) Sharing via the Web App does not allow for setting delegation rights. The only choices allowed for sharing in OWA is the full/partial/free-busy settings. Nowhere does it allow the recipient to have rights to add new items on the calendar, edit items, etc.
In fact, the mac outlook version has a great screen on the settings by giving them names which the last screenshot showed. The permission level pulldown has a bunch of pre-configured settings. In regards to using the share calendar function in Outlook, it also creates other issues which is shown in the 2nd to last screenshot. From what I am seeing.. Share Calendar in the desktop client is the same as share calendar in the web client. It lacks granularity and I need the granularity. Hi DavidBergerson, Sorry for the late response.
If you are trying to share a Calendar in Outlook and you receive the error: “Calendar sharing is not available with the following entries because of permission settings on your network” Very often this error has nothing to do with permissions on the network and is caused by outdated Outlook Auto-Complete list entries. What you need to do is click the TO button and select the recipients from the Global Address Book. In addition, you can refer to the steps below to specify what information of a calendar you want to share: • sign in to the Exchange admin center (EAC) at using your Office 365 tenant administrator credentials • Navigate to Organization > Sharing.
